Non-IgE-mediated food allergy: a tolerance induction protocol
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background Cow’s milk proteins allergy (CMPA) is the most common food allergy in childhood, affecting up to 2.5% of infants. The immune mechanisms underlying non-IgE-mediated clinical presentations, which mostly affect the gastrointestinal system and are sometimes very severe, are not fully understood. Currently, specific oral tolerance induction (SOTI) is available as a specific treatment for CMPA, but most studies of this approach have focused on IgEmediated forms of this food allergy.

A new protocol for specific oral tolerance induction in children with IgE-mediated cow's milk allergy.
IgE-mediated cow's milk allergy (CMA) is a heavy burden for patients, particularly for children and their families. Allergen avoidance represents the only therapeutic option, but oral desensitization protocols have been suggested. Because of the long duration and complexity of these protocols we examined the feasibility of an oral tolerance induction protocol using a weekly up-dosing schedule. ...

BACKGROUND Specific oral tolerance induction (SOTI) for IgE-mediated food allergy (IFA) can be successfully achieved using interfero gamma (classic SOTI). OBJECTIVE In this study, a tolerable dose was introduced during tolerance induction with interferon gamma (dual SOTI), and its effectiveness was evaluated. METHODS The study population comprised 25 IFA patients. Blood samples were taken f...
متن کاملFood Allergy in Atopic Dermatitis
Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a form of allergic skin inflammation characterized by late eczematous skin lesions [1]. These skin lesions occur through non-Immunoglobulin E (nonIgE)-mediated immune responses, and therefore, AD can be regarded as a non-IgE-mediated allergic inflammatory skin disease [2]. Many causes, including inhalant allergens, food allergens, and other factors, have been implicate...
متن کاملRecent Advances in Management of Pediatric Food Allergy
Many children now suffer with a food allergy, immunoglobulin E (IgE) and/or non-IgE mediated. Food allergies have a significant impact on the child's quality of life, as well as that of their family, due to the resultant dietary restrictions and the constant threat of a potentially life-threatening reaction. At present, there is no cure for food allergies, but there are exciting advances occurr...
متن کاملSpecific oral tolerance induction in food allergy in children: efficacy and clinical patterns of reaction.
BACKGROUND Specific oral tolerance induction (SOTI) seems to be a promising treatment of food allergy. Specific oral tolerance induction and elimination diet were compared with respect to efficacy rate and patterns of clinical reaction. METHODS Children with challenge proven immunoglobulin E (IgE)-mediated cow's milk (CM) allergy or hen's egg (HE) allergy were randomly assigned to SOTI or eli...
